     KidsHealth is a great website for children's health and development.  There are specific sections for Parents, Kids, and Teens.  A wide variety of topics are covered regarding health, behavior, and development from birth through the teen years, with articles, games, and activity ideas for the family.  This site has won four Webby Awards (Best Family/Parenting Site and Best Health Site on the Web), the Parent's Choice Gold Award, and the Teacher's Choice Award for Families.  Find this great resource site here

Love & Logic

     Love & Logic offers great resources for parents of children from birth to teen years.  There are tons of products offered regarding parenting, child development, and marriage/adult relationships.  On the site, go to the For Parents tab, and then go to Free Parenting Articles & Handouts.  There are also free articles and handouts for educators as well.  Find these resources here.

Area Counseling/Mental Health Services

      There are many area options for counseling and mental health services for children and families.  The 211 Helpline Center has created a user-friendly packet to make this process easier for our families.  This packet is full of information--from categories of service, helpful questions for picking a provider, an explanation of abbreviations and qualifications, and descriptions of services provided and contact information.  Find the latest Black Hills Behavioral Health Guide here.

Area Child Care Resources

     Selecting a care provider for your child is a vital decision that can be very daunting.  With so many options out there, how do you begin and narrow your search?  The South Dakota Department of Social Services has created a tool to assist families in this search.  DSS has built an online search tool for registered and licensed child care providers in South Dakota communities. The search tool can be used by a provider's name, type, or location.  The South Dakota Department of Social Services website has a ton of useful information!  Find DSS's Child Care Provider Search here.
